What my sabbatical taught me: Snapshot #2
In September and October 2022 I spent 6 weeks in Portugal, visiting Porto, Lisbon and the Madeira Islands. Being that this country was where I spent the most time during my sabbatical, I spent a lot of the time wandering and reflecting in the midst of exploring and meeting new people. I actually ended up getting covid the day before I was supposed to leave for the UK, so I had an unexpected quarantine in Lisbon.
During that time I realized how much I’ve limited myself by my thoughts. Spending copious amounts of energy worrying what others think of me or what they need, while ignoring my own needs. Immediately determining that I can’t do something or can’t afford something. In Portugal I made a small mindset shift, inviting myself to remember my needs, desires and dreams, and instead of shutting them down, embracing curiosity at what could be possible. I’ve found that shift has propelled me into exploring options for creating what I want, rather than remaining stationary and stagnant.
